Atlas Large Behavior Model
One AI model that drives the whole Atlas humanoid. It looks through the robot's head cameras, feels where its own body is, reads a typed instruction, and controls everything from the hands to the feet. Boston Dynamics built it with the Toyota Research Institute, and it does not sell or publish it.

Strengths and trade-offs
Our analysisStrengths
One model handles many tasks, with no separate programming for each.
Controls the whole body, so the robot can walk and use its hands together.
New tasks can be added by showing examples, not writing code.
Learns from both real robots and simulation.
Trade-offs
Closed. Nobody outside the two companies can test its claims.
It only learns what people have shown it, which takes many hours of remote driving.
Large, so it needs a strong computer to run fast enough.
Shown in research demonstrations. Boston Dynamics does not say it is the software on robots sent to customers.
Why robot makers choose it
Our readAtlas has many joints, and writing separate code for every task does not scale. One model that learns from demonstrations lets Boston Dynamics add skills by showing them, and working with the Toyota Research Institute brought in its experience building this kind of model.
This is our reasoning from the public facts. No maker has confirmed it.
Robots using it
This list covers only the robots researched so far. A robot missing here may still use this part.
