ROSA 2.0
UBTech's own software framework for its robots. It sits on top of Ubuntu Linux and ties the robot's motors, sensors and functions together, so developers can write apps for the robot through one set of controls. UBTech's Walker S2 documentation names ROS 2, the common robot software framework, as its base.

Strengths and trade-offs
Our analysisStrengths
One set of controls for the whole robot, so app makers need not deal with each part separately.
Built on ROS 2, which robot engineers already know.
Comes with example programs for the Walker S2.
Trade-offs
Only for UBTech robots.
Development only on Linux, not Mac or Windows.
Little has been published about it beyond the robot's own manual.
Why robot makers choose it
Our readA robot maker wants customers to build their own apps without being able to break the parts that keep the robot safe. A framework of its own lets UBTech offer that, while keeping its core control software private.
This is our reasoning from the public facts. No maker has confirmed it.
Robots using it
This list covers only the robots researched so far. A robot missing here may still use this part.
