Sharpa Wave hand
A human-sized robot hand with five fingers, made by Sharpa, a company headquartered in Singapore. Each fingertip has a tiny camera behind a soft skin that sees how the skin presses in, which lets the hand feel very light touches as well as how hard and in which direction it is pushing. Nvidia's reference humanoid, built on Unitree's H2 Plus, uses a pair of them.

Strengths and trade-offs
Our analysisStrengths
Feels very light touches, so it can hold fragile things without crushing them.
As many moving joints as fingers really need for fine work, close to a human hand.
Strong for its size.
Comes with ready-made models for popular robot simulators and software.
Trade-offs
Very expensive next to simpler robot hands.
1.3 kg is heavy to carry at the end of an arm, which costs lifting power and battery.
Many small motors and soft fingertip skins mean more parts that can wear out.
No public price, and it is sold through the sales team rather than a shop.
Why robot makers choose it
Our readA humanoid that is meant to do human work needs hands that can feel what they are holding. Buying a ready-made tactile hand saves a robot maker years of development. For a research robot like Nvidia's, a hand with rich touch data is also what lets researchers teach the AI fine handling.
This is our reasoning from the public facts. No maker has confirmed it.
Robots using it
This list covers only the robots researched so far. A robot missing here may still use this part.
