Robots/Parts/AI model
Helix
Figure's own AI model. It takes camera pictures and spoken instructions and controls the robot's whole upper body, down to single fingers. Figure built it after ending its work with OpenAI, and does not sell or publish it.

Strengths and trade-offs
Our analysisStrengths
One model handles many tasks, with no separate programming for each.
Runs on the robot itself.
Splits slow thinking from fast movement, so the hands stay quick while the model plans.
Figure says the same model can run two robots working together.
Trade-offs
Closed. Nobody outside Figure can test its claims.
As announced it controls the upper body, not the legs.
About 500 hours of teaching is small next to what language models learn from.
Why robot makers choose it
Our readFigure's chief executive said robot AI cannot be bought in, for the same reason the robot's hardware cannot. Owning the model lets Figure shape it around its own robot and not wait on a partner.
This is our reasoning from the public facts. No maker has confirmed it.
Robots using it
This list covers only the robots researched so far. A robot missing here may still use this part.
