Microphone array
Several microphones that work together. By comparing when a sound reaches each one, the robot can tell which direction a voice is coming from and pick it out from background noise. Unitree lists an array microphone on the H2 but does not say how many microphones it has or who makes it.

Strengths and trade-offs
Our analysisStrengths
Tells where a speaker is, so the robot can turn towards them.
Picks a voice out of a noisy room better than one microphone.
Cheap and tiny.
Trade-offs
The number of microphones is not stated, so it is hard to judge.
The robot's own motors and fans add noise.
Struggles when several people talk at once.
Why robot makers choose it
Our readA robot you talk to has to hear you across a room and know where you are standing. A small array of microphones is the usual low-cost way to do both.
This is our reasoning from the public facts. No maker has confirmed it.
Robots using it
This list covers only the robots researched so far. A robot missing here may still use this part.
